Finishing up

I often find that as a painting nears the closing stages, my biggest pleasure is putting final touches to it. I create a black layer on top of all the others, change its blend mode to Color Dodge and use a Soft brush to further lighten the lightest areas. Then I take a break from the image for a day or so, before returning to it with fresh eyes.
