Character pose

A character’s pose is key to bring the viewer into the painting. I fall back on the story of this image to help dictate my design decisions. Since the character is a hero about to ride off into the sunset, I turn his head to face the viewer just enough so he still remains mysterious. I also choose a pose that communicates a reserved attitude, which gives him an air of cool.
