Benefit from some perspective guidance

I turn on my perspective layer. These are my guides to ensure my visual lines are accurate. Then I start to flesh out the details of the background, bearing in mind the scale of each element, which can make or break a painting. For example, if a window is too large for its implied distance then the viewer will immediately notice the error.
