Alex is a freelance illustrator based in Pennsylvania. His interest in drawing and painting grew after relocating to the US from his native Uruguay in 2001. Alex’s initial passion stems from video games and anime, but now the Art Nouveau and Baroque movements are key influences in his work.

“Organic shapes and the four natural elements are reoccurring themes throughout my art,” he says. “Smoke and water are two of my favourite elements to draw.”

1 Symphony

“Music is a huge passion of mine, as well as an inspiration for my work. This piece showcases the organic nature of music from the heart and how it flows, breaks and manipulates into many other forms.”

2 Ascension

“This was featured in the Cosmos’ constellation show at Light Grey Art Lab in Minnesota. For the constellation of Cancer, I depicted the goddess Hera taking care of the dying crab Karkinos as his astral body ascends to the sky.”

3 Velvet

“The majority of my work is based on research and symbolism, however once in a while I explore a stream of consciousness. It’s a nice change of pace and I always seem to learn something new about myself.”
