Everything announced at Apple’s October event

The Apple Special event in New York saw the announcement of several exciting new products. Sean Bradley reports

Apple fans around the world were watching the firm’s October event and they certainly weren’t disappointed, with the tech giant unveiling a host of exciting new products.

MacBook Air

The Air has been given a substantial upgrade, receiving a full redesign as well as a Retina display.

The new 13.3in screen contains 4 million pixels and is surrounded by bezels that are 50 percent smaller than its predecessor’s. Additional features include Touch ID and Apple’s own T2 security chip – all powered by an eighth generation Intel i5 dual-core processor. The new MacBook Air will retail from £1,199.

Mac Mini

Apple’s diminutive Mac has had a substantial upgrade. The new Mini will have a four- or six-core CPU with up to 64GB of memory, making it up to five times faster. An upgrade to the cooling system offers double the air flow, while an expanded array of ports is a welcome addition. Prices start at £799.

iPad Pro

Two new iPads were announced at the event, with 11- and 12.9in screens. The Liquid Retina displays stretch edge to edge, with the loss of the home button, so users will need to use the gesture controls that are present on the Apple’s latest iPhones. The A12X Bionic chip runs on 7nm architecture that no desktop processor is yet to achieve. Prices for the iPad Pro start at £769. For our hands-on go to page 33.

Apple Pencil 2

Apple says the Pencil 2 is more precise and has even more features than it’s first generation predecessor. The stylus now magnetically attaches to your iPad and charges wirelessly after it automatically pairs with your tablet. The Apple Pencil 2 will set you back £119.
