The other two distros on this DVD are based on Ubuntu, but Manjaro is derived from Arch Linux. Arch is a bit of a power-user’s distro, so you may be surprised to see Manjaro being touted as suitable for new users – but it is! Manjaro offers a choice of desktops and the XFCE version is on offer this month. XFCE is a fast, reasonably lightweight, desktop that follows the more traditional desktop layout. That makes it an ideal choice for new users, unless they’ve only ever experienced Windows 8!
