Dead Ascent

- Version: 1.0.2 Web: https://github.com/Larpon/

It has been a long time since we last found ourselves in an almost desperate situation: hordes of zombies have driven our hero into the basement, and now he need to come up with a way to get out. Each level of the game is a tower floor, where you have to solve riddles and make various constructions from improvised objects. DeadAscent is a classic pointand-click game with hand-drawn graphics and a built-in manual. Every time you click an item, a note appears with an explanation, and if an item is of any use, it goes in your backpack. This way, you can collect items and carry them from one level to another. They can also interact with each other – for example, use bubble gum to patch a hole in a bucket, or build a ladder from sticks.

As you ascend, the tasks become more interesting and difficult. You have to come up with a way to power the generator after clearing it of unnecessary objects and finding a source of energy. It wouldn’t be a large spoiler to say that you’ll probably need a syringe and a hamster to power the elevator and finally get one floor higher. The pop-up notes are very helpful, as they softly guide you towards the right decisions and give clues and tips.

The game motivates you to reach the end thanks to the beautiful artwork, nice music and well-thought out plot. We managed to crack all the puzzles in one hour. By the way, there are no DeadAscent walkthroughs or cheats, but if you’re stuck, you can search its QML files and consult the code to try to find a solution. What a splendid way to learn coding! Even though the game is about zombies, there aren’t many of them on your way until you reach the last floor. DeadAscent is a small, yet high-quality and captivating Linux games. It has builds for Android and iOS platforms too.
