GNU Ring

-

You’ll be asked to create a Ring account when you first launch the application. The process is straightforward and requires only a unique username. As you’d expect, you’ll be informed if the username is available. Unlike Tox that only uses the unique ID to identify users, with Ring, your username – if registered with the registry – can also be used along with the Ring ID to locate contacts. Contacts are automatically added when you start conversations with a user. You can also use the webcam to take an image, which can be used as your profile picture if you’re happy with the lighting and angle of your face!

Once the contact is added, you can initiate voice and video calls. For each contact, you can also create a private key, or use a CA certificate to authenticate one another. For each call you place, GNURing can sometimes take as long as three minutes to connect.
