The advantage of web-based software is that you don’t have to run any specific operating system to use them. But the same isn’t true for the tools on our list.

Empathy is exclusivel­y for Linux distros. Yet since it has support for Jabber, XMPP and various other protocols, you can use alternate tools on Android and Windows machines to connect with Empathy.

GNURing, in addition to rpm and deb packages, also provide 32- and 64-bit installers for Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10. You also get the choice of installing it using the Universal Windows Platform installer on Windows 10 and Surface devices. A similar installer is available for Mac 10.10 and later and you can find it in the Android Play Store as well.

You will find Jitsi on Android Play Store as well as the Apple Store apart from installers for Windows and Mac OS X, for both its stable release as well as nightly builds.

While OpenMeetin­gs provides a Windows client, it doesn’t yet support Android and Mac devices. But being a web-based solutions, users can connect to your OpenMeetin­gs server using just their web browser.

While uTox is at version 0.16.1 for Linux users, Mac users must make do with the installer for version 0.9.8. The project also provides 32- and 64-bit installers for Windows. For Android users, Antox is the recommende­d Tox client, and is available in the Play Store.
