Parrot Home 3.11

-

It seems that most security-focused distros, such as Parrot and Kali, come with huge collections of software that make them too big to fit on our DVDs without excluding everything else. That’s certainly true of Parrot Security and is more a testament to the amount of high-quality security software available for Linux than any criticism of the distros. Fortunately, Parrot also produces its Home edition in a more manageable size, and so that’s what we have for you this month.

This is the only one of this month’s distros that is still available in a 32-bit version for old hardware. Tails recently dropped 32-bit support, so we only have the 64-bit version on the DVD. Parrot Home will run on both 32- and 64 bit-systems and as a live distro to try it out that is perfectly fine.

If you decide you like it enough to install it in anger and you have a 64-bit computer (and sufficient bandwidth) then you may be better served by grabbing the 64-bit ISO. Either way, you’ll need to copy the ISO to a DVD or USB stick. The live system runs directly from the DVD, but the installer has problems when used that way.
