Exporting images

-

1 Find the tool

Once you’ve edited your images in Darktable, you’ll want to share them. That means exporting them in a file format such as JPG for use on the web, embedded in an email and so on. This is done from the Lighttable part of the application, where you can select multiple images to export.

2 Create filenames

The Export tool is bottom-right. You may need to close the metadata editors to see it clearly, but once it’s open the use is fairly selfexplanatory. You can resize images on export, and add details such as date to the filename using strings, such as picture$ (SEQUENCE) to create picture1, picture2 and so on.

3 Control colours

One option to try is the Intent drop-down menu. This tells Darktable how you want it to deal with “out of gamut” colours. If you’re having problems printing images because they contain colours that can’t be reproduced on paper, you may be able to get a better approximation of the colour you want here.
