This Debian-based distro, which was created by a team of school teachers for use in the education sector, has been updated. It now sports a unified look that can be customised using the HandyMenu. There has also been improvemen­ts to parental controls, making this a more tempting distro to use for student PCs. OPenIndIan­a 2018.10

The latest snapshot of this open source operating system based on OpenSolari­s is now available to download from http://bit.ly/LXFOpenInd­iana. This new version updates the MATE desktop, as well as upgrading many of the applicatio­ns to their latest versions. Also included in the update is Python 3.5, along with a number of Python modules and much more. The release notes at http://bit.ly/LXFOpenInd­ianaReleas­e are well worth a read through.

Feren Os 2018.10

The “October snapshot”, a new stable version of Feren OS, has been released for download. It’s based on Linux Mint with Cinnamon as the default desktop environmen­t, and it also supports 32-bit hardware, which is something of a rarity these days. Most of the work on this latest version concerns itself with improving the backend of Feren OS and its applicatio­ns. POP! Os 18.10

This is another release that’s emerged in the wake of Ubuntu 18.10. If you’ve got a desktop or laptop built by System76 (which specialise­s in Linux PCs), then Pop! OS will be the disto that comes pre-installed. The update comes with a new kernel, new graphic stack and the Gnome desktop environmen­t.
