Getting lighter…
No, I'm not talking about my weight (I'm a renown chocoholic with zero will-power). It's the lighter days that have caught my eye. Even though it's only March, I can (literally) see the light at the end of the long, wintery tunnel. To celebrate I want to spread springtime joy with projects that embrace the season in the best way I know how – with fabric!
Lighter days make colours beautiful, so you'll enjoy our cover star from the Art Gallery Fabrics team all the more. Using
Frances Newcombe's Utopia collection, their quilt inspired us to create a bedroom filled with bold hues and quirky touches. (Pssst… You can have the fabric for this quilt delivered straight to your door – details are at the end of the project!) Have you noticed that succulents are everywhere right now? Amanda
Castor's clever foundation paper pieced pot plants, each with a flash of neon, are an oh-so-cool take on the terrarium trend.
Susan Standen designed a café curtain that every kitchen needs – the voile fabric simply glows as the light shines through.
Fiona Hesford's practical ideas for using patchwork to customize jeans is perfect for winter-weary denim.
You'll find fun little motivational messages peppered throughout the photography in this issue, the best of which has to be part of the quilt itself by Lynne Goldsworthy. Perfect for girls of all ages (including me!), we think sassy songstress Meghan Trainor would definitely approve. So sing it with me: ' Because you know I'm all about that bass, 'bout that bass, no treble!'
