Love Patchwork & Quilting

Aaaand relax…

- ALICE BLACKLEDGE COMMISSIONING EDITOR

Phew – that's the pre-Christmas rush over and done with for another year (well, unless you're working right up to the wire, in which case I wish you godspeed on your quest for lastminute handmade gifts). Now we can maybe think about getting in some selfish-sewing time. You might think I'm all quilted-out at the end of a long week in the LP&Q office, and admittedly there are times when even my brain reaches maximum capacity for quilts – but nothing helps me chill out more than some quality sewing time. I'm quite happy to hunker down in our spare room (read: my sewing room) with the radio on and stitch away a whole Saturday. Bliss!

This month we've lined up plenty of projects that should kick-start your sewing mojo and have you itching for some one-on-one time with your machine. On the cover we've got a pretty pastel design with simple HSTs to keep you busy. It's by none other than the lovely Laura Pritchard (the newest addition to our in-house quilting team) and you can even buy a kit to make it – we are good to you! Meanwhile, Michelle Wilkie has nailed the monochrome trend with her super-simple ombre quilt in shades of grey (*ahem*). We had so much fun styling this… who knew I had quite so much black and white in my wardrobe? And Karen Lewis has given that old-favourite the log cabin a fresh new look, pairing an 'exploded' version of the block with fresh Spring-time colours. If you fancy a fast-finish,

Nicole Calver offers up the latest instalment of her mini quilt series – get ready to raid your stash for a spot of fussy cutting!

Hopefully that's enough to get you back into the swing of things, and once your sewing is back on schedule, don't forget to share your finishes with us on social media #lovequiltingmag
