CUTTING OUT

From Fabric A cut:
■ One (1) 10½in x WOF strip. Subcut one (1) 10½in square from the strip. Then use the remainder to cut twelve (12) 4in squares.
■ Twelve (12) 9½in squares.
■ Thirty six (36) 3½in squares.

From Fabric B cut:
■ Six (6) 4in squares.
■ Five (5) 3½in x WOF strips. Subcut into thirty six (36) 3½in squares and six (6) 3½in x 9½in strips.

From Fabric C cut:
■ One (1) 10½in x WOF strip.

Subcut one (1) 10½in square from the strip. Then use the remainder of the fabric to cut a total of six (6)
3½in x 9½in rectangles.
■ Twelve (12) 9½in squares.
■ Eighteen (18) 4in squares.
■ Seventy two (72) 3½in squares.
■ Four (4) 4½in x WOF strips.

From the binding fabric cut:
■ Seven (7) 2½in x WOF strips.

Place a Fabric A and C 10½in square RST. Use a fabric pen to draw a straight line across the back of the lighter square, going diagonally from corner to corner. 6
Sew a ¼in seam on each side of the drawn line (Fig 1). Cut on the solid line and press seams towards the darker fabric. Do not trim the HST at this step.

Place the two HSTs right sides together so the seams nest together and each Fabric A triangle is opposite a Fabric C triangle (Fig 2).

Next, draw a diagonal line on the back of one of the HSTs, perpendicular to the seam.

Sew a ¼in seam on each side of the drawn line (Fig 3). Cut on the solid line, and press seams open. Trim to 9½in square, carefully centring the intersecting
