CUTTING OUT

From each of Fabric A and B cut:
■ Three (3) 4in squares.

From each of Fabric C and D cut:
■ Three (3) 4in squares.
■ Two (2) 3½in squares.
MAKING THE BLOCK

Pair one Fabric A and D 4in square, RST. Draw a diagonal line on the reverse of one square. Sew ¼in from either side of the line, trim along the line and press open (Fig 1). Trim each HST unit to 3½in square.

Repeat step 3 with the remaining Fabric A and D squares to make a total of six Fabric A/D HSTs. Then repeat pairing the Fabric B and C 4in squares to make a total of six Fabric B/C HSTs. 5
Arrange the HSTs and remaining Fabric C and D squares in four rows of four, as shown (Fig 2). Sew together in rows, then sew the four rows together to complete the block. Trim to 12½in square.
