CUTTING OUT

1 Using the template as a guide, cut the fabric pieces for each section of the FPP template, making sure the pieces will be at least in larger than the section they will cover, all the way around.

SIMPLE HANDERCHIEF

2 Foundation Paper Piece the Simple Handkerchief Block, sewing the fabrics in place in numerical order (Sections 1–9).

3 Trim around the outer dashed line of the paper template. Remove the template paper from the back to complete one block. Repeat to make a total of two Simple Handkerchief Blocks.

FANCY HANDKERCHIEF

4 Foundation Paper Piece the Fancy Handkerchief Block, sewing the fabrics in place in numerical order (Sections 1–21).

5 Trim around the outer dashed line of the paper template. Remove the template paper from the back to complete one block. Repeat to make a total of three Fancy Handkerchief Blocks.

SIMPLE SOCK

6 Foundation Paper Piece one each of the Simple Sock Block Sections A and B, sewing the fabrics in place in numerical order (Sections 1A–6A and 1B to 10B).

7 Arrange the two sections along the edge. Pin together carefully, making sure to match the block edges and intersecting seams of the sock.

8 Return your machine stitch length to normal, for piecing, and sew Sections A and B together, then press the seam open. Carefully trim around the outer dashed line of the paper templates.

9 Remove the paper templates from the back to complete one block, tearing along the seam lines. Repeat to make a total of two Simple Sock Blocks.

STRIPED SOCK

10 Foundation Paper Piece one each of Striped Sock Block Sections A and B, sewing the fabrics in place in numerical order (Sections 1A–9A and 1B to 13B). Follow steps 7–9 to complete one block. Repeat to make a total of two (2) Striped Sock Blocks.

PIECING THE ROW

11 Take the completed Handkerchief and Sock Blocks and arrange in a row, alternating as shown (Fig 1).

12 Return your machine stitch length to normal. Sew the blocks together.
