PREPARING THE STRIP SETS

7

Make the A1 strip sets. Sew the following strips together in order along the long edge:

■ Fabric B 2½in x WOF.

■ Fabric A 2½in x WOF.

■ Fabric C 2½in x WOF.

■ Fabric A 2½in x WOF.

■ Fabric B 2½in x WOF.

The result is a 10½in x WOF strip set. Subcut fifteen (15) 2½in wide cross sections (Fig 1).

8

Make the A2 strip sets. Sew the following strips together in order along the long edge:

■ Fabric B 4 in x WOF.

■ Fabric A 6 in x WOF.

■ Fabric B 2 in x WOF.

The result is a 12 in x WOF strip set. Repeat to make a second A2 strip set. Subcut twenty nine (29) 2 in wide cross sections (Fig 2).

9

Make the A3 strip sets. Sew the following strips together in order along the long edge:

■ Fabric B 2 in x WOF.

■ Fabric A 2 in x WOF.

■ Fabric B 8 in x WOF.

The result is a 12 in x WOF strip set. Repeat to make a second A3 strip set. Subcut thirty one (31) 2 in wide cross sections (Fig 3).

10

Make the B1 strip sets. Sew the following strips together in order along the long edge:

■ Fabric C 2 in x WOF.

■ Fabric D 2 in x WOF.

■ Fabric E 2 in x WOF.

■ Fabric D 2 in x WOF.

■ Fabric C 2 in x WOF.

The result is a 10 in x WOF strip set. Subcut fourteen (14) 2 in wide cross sections (Fig 4).

11

Make the B2 strip sets. Sew the following strips together in order along the long edge:

■ Fabric C 4 in x WOF.

■ Fabric D 6 in x WOF.

■ Fabric C 2 in x WOF.

The result is a 12 in x WOF strip set. Repeat to make a second B2 strip set.

Subcut thirty one (31) 2 1/2 in wide cross sections (Fig 5).

12

Make the B3 strip sets. Sew the following strips together in order along the long edge:

■ Fabric C 2 in x WOF.

■ Fabric D 2 in x WOF.

■ Fabric C 8 in x WOF.

The result is a 12 in x WOF strip set. Repeat to make a second B3 strip set. Subcut twenty nine (29) 2 in wide cross sections (Fig 6).

13

Make the C1 strip sets. Sew the following strips together in order along the long edge:

■ Fabric B 6 in x WOF.

■ Fabric C 6 in x WOF.

The result is a 12 in x WOF strip set. Repeat to make a second C1 strip set. Subcut thirty (30) 2 in wide cross sections (Fig 7).

ASSEMBLING THE QUILT TOP

14

Follow the Layout Diagram to sew strip sets together along the 2 in edges to form rows. Pay close attention to the orientation of your strips, making sure to rotate as shown.

15

Sew the rows together in order, staggering the rows as shown (Fig 8). Match seams and pin at intersections to keep your pattern consistent. Trim the quilt top to size at either side, as shown, to measure 60in square.

16

Cut the backing fabric in half across the width. Remove the selvedges and sew the two pieces together using a in seam. Press the seam open.

17

Press the quilt top and backing well. Make a quilt sandwich by placing the backing fabric right side down, the batting on top, then place the quilt top centrally and right side up. Baste the three layers together using your preferred basting method.

18

Quilt as desired. Felice has quilted dense lines of quilting in square segments. Trim off the excess batting and backing fabric and square up the quilt. 19

Sew the binding strips together end-to-end using diagonal seams. Press the seams open and trim away any dog ears. Fold in half lengthways, WST, and press. Sew the binding to the right side of the quilt, creating a neat mitre at each corner. Fold the binding over to the back of the quilt and hand stitch in place to finish.
