ASSEMBLING THE BUNTING
3 Place two print fabric 7in x 5½in rectangles RST. Place the Stocking template on top and draw around it, directly onto the fabric. Stitch around the sides along the lines, leaving the top open. Trim, leaving a ¼in seam allowance (Fig A). Repeat to make a total of sixteen stockings.
4 Snip notches in the curves of the seam allowances, being careful not to cut into the stitching. Turn right side out and press (Fig B).
5 Fold each background fabric 4in square in half. Sew ¼in from each short edge, stopping ¼in from the open edge (Fig C). Press each long open edge up by ¼in. Turn right side out and push out the corners.
6 Neatly tuck the top of one stocking inside the opening of one background rectangle from step 5.
7 Topstitch 1/8in from the edge to secure, backstitching at the beginning and end (Fig D). Trim the threads close to the stitching. Repeat with each stocking.
8 Pin the stockings at 5in intervals along the bias binding, tucking the corners inside. Remember to leave a length of binding at each end for tying. Topstitch
1/8in along the edge to finish.
