■ Fabric B (fog) / yd

■ Fabric C (aqua) 1¼yds

■ Fabric D (jade green) ½yd

■ Fabric E (candy green) ¾yd

■ Fabric G (pond) ¼yd

■ Backing fabric: 4½yds

■ Batting: 80in square

FINISHED SIZE ■ 72in square

NOTES

■ Seam allowances are ¼in, unless otherwise noted.

■ Press seams to the side, unless otherwise instructed.

■ Press all fabrics well before cutting.

■ WST = wrong sides together.

■ WOF = width of fabric.

CUTTING OUT

From Fabric A cut:

■ Eight (8) 2¼in x WOF strips for the binding.

■ One (1) 5½in x 18½in piece (A).

■ Four (4) 4½in x 18½in pieces (B).

■ Four (4) 5½in x 11in pieces (C).

■ Four (4) 4½in x 11in pieces (D).

■ Six (6) 7in x 5½in pieces (E).

■ Twelve (12) 7in x 4½in pieces (F).

From Fabric B cut:

■ Twenty (20) 7in squares (G).

From Fabric C cut:

■ Eight (8) 5½in x 18½in pieces (H).

■ Sixteen (16) 7in x 5½in pieces (I)

From Fabric D cut:

■ Twelve (12) 7in squares (J).

From Fabric E cut:

■ Four (4) 5½in x 18½in pieces (K).

■ Eight (8) 7in x 5½in pieces (L).

From Fabric F cut:

■ Twelve (12) 4½in x 5½in pieces (M).

■ Twelve (12) 5½in squares (N).

From Fabric G cut:

■ Four (4) 7in squares (O).

PIECING THE QUILT TOP

Referring to the Layout Diagram and starting with the left column, take two D pieces, three M pieces and two B pieces. Sew the pieces together as shown. Press the seams towards the top.

Use the Layout Diagram to piece the rest of the columns in a similar manner, alternatin­g between pressing seams towards the top and bottom of the columns so that when sewn together, the seams nest neatly.

Sew the columns together, nesting seams for a precise finish. Press the seams open or to one side.

USE THE SQUARE PIECING AS A GUIDE FOR QUILTING PERFECTLY STRAIGHT LINES
