ARRANGE YOUR FPP BLOCKS IN A GRADUAL RAINBOW SPECTRUM

-

NOTES

■ Seam allowances are ¼in, unless otherwise noted. ■ Press seams open, unless otherwise instructed. ■ Press all fabrics well before cutting.

■ FPP = Foundation Paper Piecing.

■ WOF = width of fabric. ■ Shorten your stitch length to 1.5 for FPP.

■ FPP templates A and B include seam allowances around the outer edges only. Templates C–G include seam allowances. ■ When cutting using a ‘reverse’ template, flip the template over, with the printed side down. ■ Lynne used Vlieseline Cotton Mix 80–20 Batting. ■ Lynne used Aurifil 50wt thread for piecing and 40wt thread for quilting (aurifil.com) ■ Print fabrics supplied by Fat Quarter Shop (fatquartershop.com)

FABRICS USED

Print fabrics are from the Foundation collection by Sassafras Lane Designs for Windham Fabrics.

CUTTING OUT

1 Sort the fabrics into nine pairs, with one light and one dark print in each pair. The light fabrics will form the centre rings of each block, while the dark

fabrics will form the outer rings of each block, as shown in the Layout Diagram.

2 From each of the light prints cut:

■ Four (4) 3in squares.

■ Four (4) 4in squares. Subcut each square on the diagonal to make two (2) triangles from each. The smaller triangles are for Sections 2A and 2B. The larger triangles are for Sections 5A and 5B. 3 From each of the dark prints cut:

■ Four (4) 5in squares.

■ Four (4) 6 in squares. Subcut each square on the diagonal to make two (2) triangles from each. The smaller triangles are for Sections 8A and 8B. The larger triangles are for Sections 11A and 11B.

4 From the background fabric cut:

■ Eight (8) 2 in x WOF strips.
