FABRICS USED

Solid fabrics are all Kona Cotton Solids by Robert Kaufman, in Snow, Watermelon, Papaya, Lemon, Chartreuse, Bahama Blue and Gumdrop.

Backing fabric is Ann Kelle Remix in Grey by Robert Kaufman.

CUTTING OUT

1 From the pink, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple fabrics cut:

Cut one (1) hexagon using Template B.

2 From the background fabric cut:

One (1) 6½in x WOF strip. Subcut into one (1) Template A triangle and two (2) Template D triangles. Turn Template D to the wrong side and cut two (2) more triangles, so they are mirror images of the first two.

One (1) 2½in x WOF strip. Subcut into nine (9) Template C triangles.

One (1) 3½in x WOF strip. Subcut into two (2) 3½in x 14in strips.

One (1) 2 in x WOF strip. Subcut into two 2 in x 18in strips.

3 From the yellow fabric cut:

Three (3) 2 in x WOF strips for the binding.

PIECING THE MINI QUILT

4 On the pink, yellow and purple hexagons, sew one Template C triangle to one side and press seams (Fig 1). On the orange and blue hexagons, sew two Template C triangles to two sides, as shown (Fig 2). Press seams. On the green hexagon, sew two Template C triangles to two opposite sides and press seams (Fig 3).

5 Sew the hexagons together in pairs, as follows, aligning the pieces so the points match when sewn together: pink and purple (Fig 4), orange and yellow (Fig 5), blue and green (Fig 6). Press the seams.

6 Sew the pink and purple pair to the large background Template A triangle, using the notch edge on the template to line up with the hexagon edge (Fig 7). Press the seam.

7 Sew the orange and yellow pair to the next side of the Template A triangle, aligning the pink and orange hexagons so the points will match when sewn together (Fig 8). Press seam. Then sew the green and blue set to the remaining side of the Template A triangle (Fig 9).
