CUTTING OUT

From the blue solid fabric cut:

■ Two (2) 3 in squares. Cut each square in half on the diagonal to yield four (4) HSTs.

■ Five (5) 2in x WOF strips. Subcut into twenty four (24) 2in x 7in pieces and four (4) 2in x 10in strips.

■ One (1) 20 in x WOF strip. Subcut into one (1) 20 in x 11in piece and one (1) 20 in x 16in piece for backing.

From the gold print cut:

■ Four (4) 2in x 7in pieces.

■ Eight (8) 2in x 8 in strips.

■ Four (4) 2in x 10in strips.

From the dark pink print cut:

■ Eight (8) 3 in squares. Cut each square in half on the diagonal to yield sixteen (16) HSTs. 4

From the light gold print cut:

■ Four (4) 3 in squares. Cut each square in half on the diagonal to yield eight (8) HSTs.

■ Two (2) 5 in squares. Cut each square in half on the diagonal to yield four (4) HSTs.

PIECING THE CUSHION

Follow steps 33–36 of the main quilt instructio­ns to piece each of Templates A, B, C and D using the following pieces: Templates A and B:

■ Section 1: gold print 2in x 8 in strip.

■ Sections 2 and 4: blue solid 2in x 7in strips.

■ Section 3: dark pink 3 in HSTs.

■ Section 5: light gold 3 in HSTs.

Template C:

■ Section 1: gold print 2in x 10in strip.

■ Section 2: blue solid 2in x 10in strip.

■ Section 3: light gold 5 in HST.

■ Section 4: blue solid 2in x 7in strip.

■ Section 5: dark pink 3 in HST.

Template D:

■ Section 1: gold print 2in x 7in strip.

■ Section 2: blue solid 2in x 7in strip.

■ Section 3: blue solid 3 in HST.

■ Section 4: dark pink 3 in HST. 6

Arrange the completed templates in four rows of four, referring to the Layout Diagram. Sew together in rows, then sew the rows together to complete the cushion front.

QUILTING AND FINISHING
