OPPOSING TRIANGLE UNITS

8 Take two black 3½in squares. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of each square. Place one square, RST, in the corner of a white 6½in square. Sew directly along the marked line. Trim, leaving a ¼in seam and press open. Repeat with the second black square in the opposite corner (Fig 1).

9 Repeat the process in step 8 to make a total of seventy two units with two black corners each. Repeat again to make seventy two units with one pink and one black corner (Fig 2). Trim all units to measure 6½in square to form the opposing triangle units.

PEAK UNITS

10 Take one copy of the Triangle FPP template. Place a pink 3½in square on the unprinted side of the template, so it covers all of Section 1, plus at least ¼in all the way around.

11 Place a white 2¼in x 5in piece RST, so that once sewn it will cover all of Section 2, plus at least ¼in all the way around. Turn over to the printed side of the template and sew along the line between Sections 1 and 2.

12 Fold the paper template along the sewn line. Trim the seam allowance to ¼in. Unfold the template and press the fabric pieces open.

13 Repeat steps 11–12 to cover Section 3 of the template. Trim along the dashed line to complete one pink peak unit.

14 Repeat steps 10–13 to make a total of sixty pink peak units and sixty black peak units.

15 Join each pink peak unit to the top of an orange 3½in square. Join each black peak to the top of a white 3½in square (Fig 3).

ASSEMBLING THE BLOCKS

16 Arrange four pink/black opposing triangle units, four pink peak units and one blue 3½in square as shown in Fig 4. Sew the units in rows, then sew the rows together to complete the block. Repeat to make a total of thirteen Block A.

17 Sew two pink/black opposing triangle units to either side of a pink peak unit to make an edge block, as shown in Fig 5. Repeat to make a total of eight of these edge blocks.
