To make the whole quilt:

■ Fabric A (Charcoal): ½yd

■ Fabric B (Slate): ½yd

■ Fabric C (Ash): one (1) fat quarter

■ Fabric D (Peridot): one (1) fat quarter

■ Fabric E (Zucchini): one (1) fat quarter

■ Fabric F (Olive): one (1) fat quarter

■ Fabric G (Pickle): one (1) fat quarter

■ Fabric H (Woodrose): ½yd

■ Fabric I (Punch): one (1) fat eighth

■ Fabric J (Stratosphe­re): ½yd

■ Fabric K (Blueberry): one (1)

■ Fabric L (Black): one (1) fat eighth

■ Fabric M (White, includes sashing

and borders): 1yd

■ Fabric N (Aqua): one (1) fat quarter

■ Background fabric (Eggshell): 3yds

■ Backing fabric: 2½yds

■ Binding fabric: "/ 8yd

■ Batting: 46in x 58in

NOTES

■ Seam allowances are ¼in unless

otherwise noted.

■ Press seams to the side, unless

otherwise instructed.

■ FPP = Foundation Paper Piecing.

■ RST = right sides together.

■ WST = wrong sides together.

■ Shorten your stitch length to 1.5 for FPP.

Fabrics A–M are Kona Cotton Solids by Robert Kaufman. Fabric N (Aqua) is Essex Linen.

PIECING THE BOOK BLOCKS

Follow steps 1–7 of the FPP tutorial from issue 99 to piece one copy each of the Books Templates A– D on p88, referring to the Block 1 Layout Diagram.

Following steps 8–10 of the tutorial, join Template B to the bottom of Template A. Then join Template C to the bottom of AB, and Template D to the bottom of ABC.

Press the block. Remove any remaining paper from the back of the block and trim to 10 in square.

4

Repeat steps 1–3 to make the second books block, referring to the Block 2 Layout Diagram.
