■ WOF = width of fabric.
■ Sarah used 5in charm squares from two packs, to ensure plenty of variety across her quilt. You can also choose to use a mix of pre-cut jelly roll strips, or 21/2in strips from your stash if you prefer.

FABRICS USED
Print fabrics are from Fanciful Forest by MoMo for Moda Fabrics and Parakeet by Kaffe Fassett for FreeSpirit Fabrics.
CUTTING OUT
If using charm squares, cut at least
1
thirty squares in half in order to make 21/2in x 5in strips. You can also use jelly roll strips, or scraps from your stash cut to 21/2in wide. From the strips, subcut a total of one hundred and seventeen (117) triangles, using the 60- degree template included with the magazine, following steps 2–3 of the tutorial on p7.
From the binding fabric cut: 2
■ Two (2) 21/4in x WOF.
PIECING THE MINI QUILT
Arrange your triangles in nine rows
3
of thirteen, referring to Fig 1. Take your time with this part, to arrange the pieces how you like. Sarah started with the pink and orange tones at the top, gradually moving into the green and blue tones.
Piece the triangles together in rows,
4
then join the rows together, following the process outlined in steps 4–5 of the tutorial. Square up the sides of the quilt top, trimming 1/4in outside the points (Fig 2).
QUILTING AND FINISHING
Layer the backing right side down,
5
the batting, and then the mini quilt top centrally and right side up on top. Baste together using your preferred method.
Quilt as desired. Sarah quilted a 60
6
degree lattice, offsetting the quilt lines from the seams by approx 1/2in. Trim away any excess batting and backing fabric.
Sew the binding strips together along 7
the short edges using a diagonal seam.
Press the seam open and then trim away the dog ears. Press in half lengthwise, wrong sides together, and press.
Sew the binding to the right side
8
of the quilt, creating a neat mitre at each corner. Fold the binding over the back of the quilt and secure in place temporarily with pins or binding clips. Hand stitch in place to finish.
