Wunderlist is free!

-

Of all the apps featured on these pages, Wunderlist offers perhaps the best example of how you can replace a paid-for app with a free one. Things, its closest Mac app competitor, costs £34.99. On top of that, if you want to sync with an iPad and iPhone, you’ll need to fork out £13.99 for the iPad version and another £6.99 for the iPhone app. Wunderlist is free on the Mac, iPad, and iPhone and syncs all three.

If there were a few significant differences in the apps, that price difference would still make Things worth considering, but there aren’t. The differences are minor, and not all in Things’ favour. Like Things, Wunderlist adheres to the Getting Things Done way of working, but unlike Things, it doesn’t follow it slavishly.

You can create lists and tasks, decide how to view them, add sub-tasks and notes, reminders, and make tasks recur. You can’t tag tasks, as you can in Things, but you can, however, share lists by email or on Facebook. Some collaboration features require a £34.99/year In-App Purchase, but these are aimed at large groups. All in all, Wunderlist is a brilliant free app.
