YOU’ll NEED Adobe Premiere Elements 12, still images ready to use

Video editing isn’t solely about editing video. Of course, everything’s geared towards the moving image, helping you create and polish your film in an interface that’s intuitive, but not everyone’s into making films; you may not have the inclination, the time, or even the storage space to make this a possibility. Even then, Premiere Elements has some great uses.

One of those is as a creator of slideshows. It’s highly likely that more people take pictures than they do video, even though devices capable of recording video have truly become commonplace, so why not add a few photos to your video project, or simply create one entirely made up of still images?

There’s a risk of slideshows being boring and tedious. A movie demands motion to keep the viewer interested. No matter how exciting the musical score is, a collection of static images has the potential to put anyone to sleep. In order to bring life into your pictures, you need to move into them, pan across them and bring them to life, keeping the interest going.

No matter how exciting the music is, static images can potentially put anyone to sleep

That’s why Premiere Elements includes a tool that enables you to quickly set a starting and ending point, and the app will gently glide the image across those two points for you.

And, best of all, the process works in Quick mode, so you can create and complete a polished slideshow quickly and easily. Steve Paris
