Block in the Phone app

Blocking someone is easiest to do from either the Phone or Messages apps. In the Phone app, you can do it two ways. In the Recents tab, tap the ‘i’ next to the entry you want to block, then scroll to the bottom and tap ‘Block this Caller’, then confirm. Or go to the Contacts tab, select the person to block, and again scroll down and tap ‘Block this Caller’.

Block in Messages

In the Messages app, first select a conversation that includes the person to block. Tap Contact in the top-right of the screen, and then tap the ‘i’ symbol. Scroll to the bottom of this screen, tap ‘Block this Caller’ and confirm. It doesn’t make a difference if you block someone from Messages or the Phone app – they get added to the same block list either way.

Check the blocked list

You can see who you’ve blocked in the Settings app. Go to either the Phone, Messages or FaceTime section, then tap Blocked. Here you see all the individual contact information of everyone blocked, and an option to add other contacts to the list. To remove a number or address from the list, tap Edit, and then the red circle next to the one you want to unblock.
