Mac Format

Financial fix

-

Having just picked up the May issue of MacFormat (273), I was interested to read the letter ‘Broken system’. I also had an early 2008 Macbook Pro that suddenly started freezing and all other problems associated with the Nvidia graphics card. Although my laptop was registered with Apple, they failed to contact me. When I realised there had been an extension to the warranty, I contacted them and they told me the date had since passed and that was that. Having been told by Apple I would need a new logic board and graphics card, I was about to dispense with the machine when I found a company in Cardiff, Wales,

called Country2City that offered a repair service for the Nvidia graphics card problem for £80, including collection and delivery by courier. They did an excellent job on my machine, and it’s now working perfectly. Their website is country2city.com. If you could publish this letter in your next edition it may prevent someone else throwing away a laptop that can be repaired. David Simpson Ian Osborne says: We haven’t tried Country2City ourselves, so can’t vouch for David’s positive experience, but we’re very glad to hear that there’s a reasonably priced alternative to this out-of-warranty repair.
