Flash (or lack of) is ruining my life

-

I have a mid-2012 MacBook Air with OS X 10.9.2. Ever since the last OS upgrade it has refused to play anything using Flash Player. I’ve removed the copy of Flash Player and then re-installed from scratch, but I still get the message to update to the latest version! How can I get Flash Player to work? Alan Stovold There’s a possibility you didn’t properly reinstall Flash the first time around. Open System Preferences > Flash Player and click Advanced > Delete All. Now go to Applications > Adobe and drag the whole of the Flash Player folder to the Trash. Restart Safari and go to get.adobe.com/flashplayer to reinstall the latest version. Finally, restart Safari a second time.

Should you wish to be free of Flash altogether, learn from the iPad. You see, the iPad doesn’t support Flash, so video sites offer HTML5-based video as well. To ask for it, open Safari > Preferences > Advanced and tick ‘Show Develop menu in menu bar’. Click the new ‘Develop’ menu item that appears and choose User Agent > Safari iOS7 – iPad. Your MacBook now tells sites it’s an iPad and they use HTML5 video. You may, however, get nagged to view the mobile version of the site.

?? ?? Perform some trickery in the Develop menu, so Safari can pretend to be another browser altogether!
