ZAGGkeys PROplus

It’s a thumbs up from Ian for this Bluetooth iPad keyboard cover…

ZAGGkeys PROplus or Logitech Ultrathin? At MacFormat, opinion is divided on which is the best iPad Bluetooth keyboard cover, but personally, I love my PROplus. Compatible with iPad models 2 to 4, it suits my needs just fine.

ZAGGkeys PROplus has several advantages over its Logitech rival. Unlike the Ultrathin, the PROplus is backlit, with a choice of seven colours and three brightness settings; it’s just the thing for typing in low-light conditions. It has magnets to hold it shut when used as a cover too, something else Logitech’s offering lacks. But the ZAGGkeys also has its drawbacks. There are no magnets in the holding slot where you stand your iPad when typing, so if you use it on a juddery train or a rough flight, it might wobble or fall down. I’ve never had an issue with this myself, but it’s a consideration. Likewise, there’s a small lip at the foot of the keyboard. Again, this doesn’t bother me, but our deputy editor Matt Bolton finds it gets in the way as he types.

Both keyboard covers are very high quality; which you prefer is largely a matter of choice. I’m sticking with my ZAGGkeys PROplus for now. It’s very good value now it’s down to £56 for the UK layout version (from zagg.com/zaggkeys-proplus/7288).
