The Raspberry Pi-powered media

player smashed through its funding

goal in just days

What is it? This Raspberry Pi-powered media player smashed through its Kickstarter funding goal in just a few days. Capable of storing up to 2TB of music, photos and movies on a built-in hard drive (depending on model), it can play a huge range of media in Full HD on your TV. It supports external drives too, and can be controlled with universal remotes or even an iPhone. When’s it due? December 2014. Why are we excited? There are two key things here: first, the funky LED light, which can be customised. Somewhat more practically, the Slice can be an AirPlay receiver, meaning you can send video to it from your iOS device or Mac, just like you would to an Apple TV.
