Doug Dug.
Going underground
Doug is a dwarf on a mission: to get his grubby paws on the biggest collection of treasure imaginable. He digs deep underground, unearthing bling but also nastier things, such as spiders, ghouls, and unstable boxes of TNT.
Controlling Doug’s escapades is simple: drag in a direction to dig that way. Find a power-up, such as a support or a golden shovel for superfast digging, and you tap to activate it. What’s less simple is staying alive. From the off you’re at risk from cave-ins, and you have to balance greed with the likelihood of being crushed to death. Soon, you’ll encounter lava, explosions, and precarious drops, a few too many of which are leaps into the unknown. For the most part, though, this is perfect iOS gaming – it looks great, controls well, and offers a modern take on classic digging titles such as Dig Dug and Mr Driller. Craig Grannell
An addictive and rewarding arcade title that’s easy to get into, but offers plenty of depth (oho!).
