Boost se­cu­rity and pri­vacy Con­trol who has ac­cess to your iPhone, your data and your lo­ca­tion with th­ese handy tips for iOS 8 En­able Send Last Lo­ca­tion. This will up­date iCloud with the iPhone’s lo­ca­tion just be­fore the bat­tery dies. Tap Set­tings > iCloud > Find My iPhone > Al­low. Then turn on Send Last Lo­ca­tion. Add two-fac­tor au­then­ti­ca­tion for iCloud. When­ever you log in to iCloud, Ap­ple texts you a code to type in, as well as your pass­word. If some­one tries to hack your iCloud ac­count re­motely, they don’t have your phone. If they steal your phone, they don’t have your pass­word. Go to ap­pleid.ap­ple.com, click Man­age your Ap­ple ID, sign in and click ‘Get started…’ un­der ‘Two-Step Ver­i­fi­ca­tion’. Track when apps are us­ing your lo­ca­tion by tap­ping Set­tings > Pri­vacy > Lo­ca­tion Ser­vices > Sys­tem Ser­vices > Sta­tus Bar Icon. This will add an icon to the top of your screen. Change your de­fault search en­gine, in Set­tings > Sa­fari, to Duck­DuckGo and your searches won’t be tracked or pro­filed, like they are with Google. The sug­gested apps on the lock screen and app store are a way to pro­mote busi­nesses that are near your cur­rent lo­ca­tion. You can dis­able this in Set­tings > iTunes & App Store.
