IOS 8 won’t update apps

I updated my iPhone 5s with iOS 8, but now I have problems updating apps. The sign in prompt does not appear any more and signing in to my account first has no affect on updating apps. Anthony Reid It’s not that they don’t download, exactly, but the downloads for some apps can get stuck in certain circumstances. This seems to be a problem with the apps themselves, rather than iOS 8 – otherwise it would affect everyone, which definitely isn’t the case. The 8.0.2 update doesn’t seem to have made any difference and the problem can affect iPads, too.

The best solution is to identify the app that’s causing the problem, and delete it until it has been updated to work with iOS 8. The Wall Street Journal app is the only one I know of confirmed to cause the problem, but it’s not the only one. A few users claim they’ve restarted downloads by either turning off autoupdate and restarting, downloading from the purchased tab, rather than updates, in the App Store or downloading from iTunes on a Mac and then syncing across.
