Mac Format - - APPLE TALK -

I moved from PC to Mac in 2010 (with MacFor­mat be­ing partly re­spon­si­ble) and I’ve never looked back. I love the Mac and it’s OS for its simplicity and syn­ergy with its own prod­ucts – “It just works”. I do feel, though, that this is be­com­ing more ques­tion­able with the last roll­out of iOS & OS X be­ing plagued with is­sues. Not least with the whole iCloud tim­ing/ac­ces­si­bil­ity, but the core prod­ucts: re­leas­ing iOS 8 (which was so buggy) and then Craig Fed­erighi laugh­ing it off at the Oc­to­ber event with 8.1; I’m still hav­ing Bon­jour is­sues even with the lat­est ver­sion.

I’ve had frus­tra­tions with Time Ma­chine back­ups from Mav­er­icks be­ing un­read­able in Yosemite – surely this was tested prior to rolling out? The Ap­ple helpdesk ad­vised to use the mi­gra­tion process, which lasted hours.

I in­tended on per­form­ing a clean in­stall of Yosemite, so I ver­i­fied the back­ups were in place and then wiped the drive dur­ing the in­stal­la­tion process. Once all the set­tings had been made to log in, I wanted to choose which items to re­store, but was un­able
