Only import your best photos

Storage may be cheap, but modern DSLRs can blaze away at speeds in excess of 10fps and this can lead to a great many similar, if not identical, images.

Snapselect offers image recognition that can run while importing pictures from your camera as well as on existing Aperture or Lightroom libraries or folders on a hard drive.

The app will group your images by capture time into similar and identical piles, and can take some time to do this depending on your CPU and the number of images. We didn’t see it make a mistake, but it’s up to you to check through them and export the best to a working folder. You can share directly to social media too.

Many photographers will delete poor images on the camera or when importing to their Mac, so this app may be a solution in search of a problem. But there’s some great technology at work here, and it may be handy for those who pray and spray. Ian Evenden

This is a useful app for those who take a lot of similar shots, and the image recognition works a treat.
