To-do apps
Get yourself super-organised
We all like to get things done. But the trouble is that often we’re just not organised enough to juggle the multitude of tasks we get bombarded with at home and work. But half of the battle with organisation is making a plan. So the good news is that there are some excellent Mac apps in which to place your trust and manage your tasks with. As you’d expect, they come in all price bands and offer different levels of service, so what better fodder could there be for one of our big app round ups?
All the apps are available on the Mac App Store, though we strongly recommend you visit the websites of the apps’ developers first, certainly before you take the plunge to buy. That’s because all of the paid apps offer free trials. You don’t want to get into spending £30 on an app you may decide you don’t like to use. Usually these trials are a couple of weeks, too, so you should have enough time to decide if it’s for you in the longer term.
As you’ll see on the right, all of the apps have mobile equivalents, but some offer different versions for iPad as well as other platforms. After all, while we might prefer to use OS X and iOS, our jobs and other pastimes sometimes require us to use non-Apple devices (we know you don’t want to). In all seriousness, it’s definitely a bonus if you’re able to access your to-do list through any web browser or even on a device such as an Amazon Kindle.
For some of the free apps there are premium versions available. We’d recommend you try the free version for a little while at least. Why? Because you might just find that the free account is more than enough for what you need it for – while premium features sound good, they often don’t add anything to the main day-to-day features.
Before you go any further, do check out the table to the right. It will give you a good overview of which apps cost the most, which will provide you with an equivalent app for your iPhone and so on. Anyway, let’s get some things done! Dan Grabham
