Google Translate
Word Lens was always sufficiently advanced technology, and developer Quest Visual’s acquisition by Google means its magical tech has now been folded into the Google Translate app. Tap the camera icon, point it at a sign in a language you can’t read, and a translation is placed, live, over the image. It’s not perfect, often trying a few times before you recognise a sentence, but it’s enough to give you the meaning of what you’re looking at.
