Which NAS?

-

I would like to get a new NAS for my multi-media. The two I have been looking at are the Synology and the QNAP. Could you do an article on home NAS for Mac and iOS? The one thing that had me with the QNAP was it has HDMI out on it. Living in a small house, I have no room to collect DVDs and CDs, having a small unit that can hold every thing and work well would be great. Gary Keegan

Alex Blake says… You’ve written in with near perfect timing, as this issue our group test covers NAS drives in depth! As you say, NAS drives make the perfect media servers – anyone in the house can simply connect to the network and wirelessly enjoy any of the content stored on the box. Unfortunately, the models in our group test don’t come with HDMI ports, but there are plenty of models that do – QNAP seem to be particularly good in this regard. But, if you can live without the HDMI output, most NAS manufacturers make it very easy to stream between devices – make sure you head over to our group test (page 94) to see which one reigns supreme.

?? ?? Choosing a Network Attached Storage drive isn’t easy, but this issue’s group test selects the best.
