Staccato status stress

-

I updated to OS X El Capitan as soon as it came out, but this week I noticed for the first time that the status bar that used to be at the bottom of the window in Safari has gone. Now it just flashes up briefly, which is quite distracting. Now I have noticed it, I can’t concentrate on anything else! I feel like the constant flashing at the bottom of the screen every time I roll over a link is going to drive me crazy! Is there anything that can be done? Ann Grassmere You can click View > Hide Status Bar to turn it off altogether, but if you mean can you revert to the old style, then no. The status bar was really only ever useful to verify where a link would take you before you clicked and the rest of the time it just took up space. Chrome and Firefox both switched to this style some time ago.
