Tap Forms Organizer 5

A full-featured portable database

- J.R. Bookwalter

£12.99 FROM Tap Zapp Software, tapforms.com NEEDS iOS 9.3 or higher

Tap Forms is billed as a “digital filing cabinet for life’s scattered details”, but it’s

much more than that. Also available for Mac, it helps you organise a wide range of information more easily than with costly options such as FileMaker. Rather than using separate apps for DVD, book and wine collections, you can manage all three in this one.

More than 30 customisable forms for different personal or business needs are included. Data from other software is easily imported using the web server feature – point your Mac’s browser at its address and upload a file. We used text and CSV, and template data from the late, great Bento is also supported.

New in this version is the ability to store each database as a self-contained document. That‘s good for sharing with others, and because each feels more like a standalone app.

Cloud-based or local sync between Mac and iOS devices is possible. The former no longer works with iCloud or services such as Dropbox, but rather IBM Cloudant, yet it’s fairly hassle-free. Local sync will appeal more to many, anyway. Tap Send and choose the device on your network to sync with – it’s as easy as AirDrop and faster than waiting for cloud sync to catch up.

?? ?? With support for multiple documents, it’s simpler than ever to share with others.
