We’ve had our own problems with iCloud library metadata being altered, albeit on the music side when Apple Music was introduced. After the painstaking effort of getting everything just right, it’s very frustrating and a safe yet speedy fix isn’t always apparent. If you dig through iCloud’s support docs, you might stumble upon Apple’s recommendation that you keep a back-up copy of your library (see apple.co/2f1e7Sk). We think this should be made clear to all users from the outset, not just those who have reason to read support documents.
