7 manoeuvres in Maps
Find your way around the world and unearth nearby points of interest with this informative tool
1 Explore views
Each view has its own advantages: Map makes roads more visible; Transit shows public transport routes; and Satellite shows overhead photos and a pseudo-3D view in some cities. In the Map and Satellite views, View > Show Traffic shows congestion.
2 Find points of interest
Click in the search field to see your recent searches for places and directions. If you have a Touch Bar, it will show shortcuts to food and drink, local shops, and entertainment. Or, type a general description of what you want to find, such as ‘Chinese food’.
3 Share your searches
Using the Share sheet, you can send your current selection to apps and other services, or to iOS. Choose Send to iPhone and you’ll receive a notification on that device; tap it and Maps will open with the same search you just performed on your Mac.
4 Export directions
Choose File > Export as PDF and your current search will be exported as a printable document. This is handy for sharing with someone who lacks a computer or mobile device, or to get written directions to paste elsewhere, such as on a website.
