Apple introduces the faster iMac G4 with a radical new design, featuring an adjustable arm. It includes both OS 9 and OS X.
September 2003
A 20-inch widescreen version of the iMac G4 is released. It features USB 2 for the first time in the iMac line-up.
October 2005
The final revision of the iMac G5 is released featuring a built-in iSight camera, faster processors, more RAM and bigger hard drives.
October 2009
The first unibody iMac is introduced, made from a single piece of aluminium.
October 1999
The first slot-loading iMac. Faster processor, double the RAM of the iMac G3 and support for AiPort WiFi.
February 2001
Some hardware improvements and new colours Flower Power and Blue Dalmatian introduced.
August 2004
Apple redesigns the iMac once more with the iMac G5. Housed in white polycarbonate, everything was built into the display.
August 2007
The first aluminium iMac is introduced in 20-inch and 24-inch sizes.
October 2014
The iMac with Retina display and a resolution of 5120 x 2880 is released. This 27-inch model has both Core i5 and Core i7 variants.
