Recent patents have revealed that Apple is working on a MacBook Pro with a very special keyboard. The keyboard is actually a second display – just imagine that the current Touch Bar has been given growth hormones and has taken over the entire keyboard area. The second display could then be used as a virtual keyboard, sketch pad or simply as an extension of the screen.
Details of the device are buried in the iPad Pro’s Smart Keyboard patent application, which shows Apple is considering a future version of the keyboard with a display instead of physical keys. Combined with haptic feedback, it could mark the end for physical keyboards, as we swap clicks for taps on a permanent basis.
