QWhen I try to print from Adobe Acrobat Reader DC on my MacBook Pro Late 2011 running Sierra, I see a ’There are no pages selected to print’ error message, although they print from my Mac mini, or using Foxit Reader or PDF Reader Pro Free. Unlike Acrobat, they can’t open some PDFs, so how can I print them? by Richard Gel ling

ASome users find that disabling Enhanced Security within Acrobat Reader’s preferences fixes this error. Others work around it by printing to JPEG image files, then printing those using another app. But for some, no matter what they try, the error persists.

It’s almost certainly a problem specific to Sierra, resulting from its new PDFKit library, which has broken many apps. Some bugs have been fixed in successive updates to the initial release of 10.12, but this particular one with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC seems to have persisted on certain models of Mac.

Until Apple and Adobe address the issue and deliver a fix, hopefully in the next update to Sierra, you’ll have to work around it by using a different app. Even the bundled Preview is worth trying, particularly as Apple has recently fixed at least some of its bugs. You could also consider upgrading to a paid version, such as Adobe Acrobat Pro, which doesn’t appear to suffer the same glitches.
