Organise files with Finder

1 Customise sidebar

Go to Finder > Preferences. Click Sidebar in the new window that opens. Here you can tick which items appear by default in the sidebar, such as your Music and Movies folders.

2 Customise tags

Click on Tags – at the top of the window next to General. Right click on any tag here and choose ‘Rename X’ to give it a new title. Just click on a coloured dot to choose a new colour.

3 Tag items

Close the Finder preferences window and ≈- click a file or folder. In the Tags section of the pop-up menu, click a colour label to assign a category. Click the tags in the sidebar to view tagged items.
