Ap­ple’s ‘other prod­ucts’

Ap­ple has so far re­fused to give out ex­act Watch sales fig­ures, lead­ing to a lot of guess­ing on

the part of an­a­lysts. Ever since the wear­able went on sale, Ap­ple has bun­dled its sales num­bers into the ‘other prod­ucts’ cat­e­gory in its quar­terly re­ports. This also in­cludes prod­ucts like the Ap­ple TV, Beats head­phones, AirPods and the iPod. And this cat­e­gory is do­ing well. In Ap­ple’s Q3 2017 re­sults, the ‘other prod­ucts’ cat­e­gory grew 23% year-on-year.

These are the same re­sults where Tim Cook stated the Watch had grown 50% in sales year-onyear, sug­gest­ing that the wear­able is the main driver of sales in that cat­e­gory. This an­nual in­crease is likely to have been spurred on by the price drop and im­proved fea­tures of the Ap­ple Watch Se­ries 2. Does this suc­cess mean that Ap­ple will soon re­lease solid sales fig­ures for the Ap­ple Watch? Only time will tell on that one.
